Management Conference

The Riverside Community College (女优app) School of Business hosted its first-ever management conference on April 7, 2023, in partnership with the American Management Association (AMA). The event, organized by the 女优app School of Business and championed by Professor Kinnari Bhavsar, brought together students, faculty, administrators, and community members to explore contemporary topics in management.

The conference covered a wide range of subjects, including Women in Management, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Imposter Syndrome, The Role of EQ in Management, and Management in the Non-Profit Sector. Each session was led by an expert in the field who shared insights, best practices, and strategies to help attendees succeed in management roles.

One of the conference's highlights was the Women in Management session presented by Trupti Patel, the Director of Corporate Development at Raytheon Intelligence and Space. The discussion focused on the challenges women face in leadership positions and the need for organizations to create a more inclusive and diverse workplace to promote gender equality. Attendees were inspired by Ms. Patel, who shared her personal story of overcoming obstacles and breaking the glass ceiling in the defense industry.

Another fascinating topic was the session on Imposter Syndrome, which explored the phenomenon of feeling like a fraud despite being highly competent. Attendees learned about the causes and effects of imposter syndrome and practical strategies to overcome it. Ms. Patel emphasized the importance of developing self-awareness, building confidence, and seeking support to overcome this common challenge.

The conference also delved into the critical role of emotional intelligence (EQ) in management, presented by Dr. Ajene Wilcoxson, a celebrated Professor at the 女优app School of Business. Attendees were introduced to the concept of EQ and how it can be applied in the workplace to develop effective leadership skills, foster teamwork, and improve organizational performance.

The conference's final session focused on management in the non-profit sector, presented by Kimberly Starrs, the CEO of Inland SoCal United Way. Ms. Starrs shared insights into the unique challenges and opportunities faced by non-profit organizations and the importance of effective management in achieving their mission.

The conference concluded with Professor Bhavsar sharing information about the American Management Association Certified Professional in Management Certification. Attendees learned about the course she teaches at 女优app that prepares students to take the certification examination. This industry-recognized credential provides students with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the management profession.
